I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1976 with a degree in Visual Communications In 1979 I moved to Houston to take a job as a graphic designer at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 1985 my wife, our son and I moved to Tokyo, Japan for her job. I was a stay-at-home dad until I was hired as an illustrator/designer at Kyowa Kikaku, Ltd., a medical advertising agency. We had two more children while in Japan and this opportunity was a wonderful experience for me creatively as I got to explore Japan and enjoy all of its beauty! In 1990 my wife and I moved back to Houston where I worked at several hospitals in the Texas Medical Center and in 2000 was hired as Manager of Graphic Design at MD Anderson Cancer. There I managed a team of designers and printing department until retiring in 2021. Since retiring I have had time to get back into oil painting. I hope to get back into watercolors as well and am renewing my love of woodworking and fishing whenever I can! I am excited to join the VAA and hope to get involved in the various activities.
