Exploring Epoxy's Different Uses For Artists
WorkshopsOn Saturday, May 14, Visual Arts Alliance will have a member’s only workshop, Exploring Epoxy’s Different Uses for Artists. The workshop will take place at the Hardy & Nance Studios, 902 Hardy St., Studio #15, Houston, 77020 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Epoxy clay is a mixed media artist's best friend. A simple to use two part clay that cures rock hard with no baking needed, it combines the benefits of sculpting clay with the adhesive power of epoxy. It adheres to almost anything and accepts texture mediums and paint very well. It can be made to mimic almost any material, and once cured it can be drilled, sanded, or carved. It can be used for sculpting, jewelry making, assemblage, and more.
Mixed media assemblage artist Penny McDonald will introduce you to this versatile medium in her studio at the Hardy & Nance Street Studios. She will demonstrate mixing the clay and some of its uses, and you will be able to mix a sample yourself. Afterwards, you have the option to visit the gallery to see the Locals Only Pop-Up Art Show.
