Join Visual Arts Alliance Saturday, November 4, at 11:00 a.m. for an in-person tour of Mother Dog Studios, 720 Walnut Street, Houston, TX 77002, with founders John Carrol Runnels and Charlie Jean Sartwelle, including a peek at the work of resident artists.

Runnels and Sartwelle co-founded Houston’s oldest surviving Artist-run warehouse, Mother Dog Studios, 38 years ago. The 22,000 square foot warehouse is comprised of 17 studios and an expansive exhibition space called the Mother Dog Museum of Modern Art. Mother Dog Studios serves as a working advocate for contemporary art and as a catalyst for nurturing emerging and established artists by providing opportunities for inspiration, experimentation and education. Mother Dog Studios remains committed to advancing innovative art and art practice as a vital social force.

Runnels has innumerable public artworks in downtown Houston: 3 METRO light rail station platforms & over a dozen stainless steel boat sculptures that function as portals down along Buffalo Bayou. His private studio practice includes: painting, sculpture, photography & poetry. He is the Art Director & curator of shows at Mother Dog Studios.
