Join Visual Arts Alliance Saturday, February 4, at 11:00 a.m. for an in-person event, a tour of the current exhibition at Gallery Sonja Roesch: “Eye of the Storm” by John Clement. Gallerist Sonja Roesch will lead the tour and talk about the art on view at the gallery, 2309 Caroline Street, Houston, TX 77004.
John Clement effortlessly cuts, bends, joins, and welds steel pipes into flowing, interconnecting forms. Clement transforms this industrial material into monumental line drawings that swirl through time and space. The sculptures appear to defy gravity as they twist and turn in the air. Endlessly devoted to the geometry of the arc, John Clement refines cold steel into graceful, vibrant, curling sculptures with power and elegance.
Gallery Sonja Roesch was originally founded 1991 in Germany. Inspired by gallerists like Denise René, Sonja Roesch established the gallery to spotlight work that embodies a minimalist aesthetic and to create an institution bolstered by strong programming. In 1996, she relocated to Houston, Texas and now she continues to pursue her vision with a program of international artists working with painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation.
