I was born in the Philippines and spent the former part of my childhood there, but moved and lived out the rest of my youth in Corpus Christi, Texas. I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting and I am now a practicing accountant. Art has always been a part of me as far as I could remember. I studied it for four years in high school and received many recognitions and awards including having one of my drawings displayed in the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. for one year. Though I had all but given up on art after high school, I began drawing and painting again in 2016, and it has been a life-changing experience ever since. While I had focused on realism prior to my hiatus, since immersing myself in art again I had found an immense passion for abstractionism as I had been able to articulate and express my ideas at a more profound and coherent level than ever before, as contradictory as it may sound. The boundless avenues through which I could tell my stories—and my stories be interpreted by my viewers—have been an exhilarating experience that has reinvigorated my love for art.
