Join us for our member-only May Workshop presented by award winning artist Richard Hall. Using Zoom, he will guide us through an overview of pen and ink drawing and the process of creating a simple illustration, demonstrating line work, texture, lighting, etc.
Since this will be a virtual demonstration using Zoom, there will be no classroom portion. We will explore a brief history of pen and ink drawing from the 17th to the 21st Centuries to understand the evolution of styles and techniques. Richard will cover the basics of pen and ink techniques, the various tools used for different approaches to illustration and fine art. Finally, you will observe Richard work through the process of creating a simple pen & ink drawing. Portions of this program will be pre-recorded and the live drawing demonstration will be recorded.
Richard Hall’s illustrations can be found in many books, articles, films and exhibits. His latest project, an illustrated field guide to the lighthouses of Texas, was a medalist in the International Independent Publishers Awards in 2014 for Best Regional Non-fiction, and was nominated for the 2019 Authors Academy Awards in the non-fiction category. His beautiful watercolors, pen and ink drawings and other media work can be seen at his studio (#227) at The Silos at Sawyer Yards in Houston. Check him out at Facebook.com/ThePintailGrou
