VAA members and guests were treated to a tour of four artist studios within the Silver Street Studios building. The purpose of the tour was to introduce attendees to the building (home to 70 artists) and also four specific artists. We learned that studios vary in size and therefore rental cost with the smallest/lowest starting at $600/month plus utilities and insurance. Silver St. is one of several artists’ studio buildings in the city offering communities for artists to join and spaces for collectors to visit.
The artists we visited were Kelyne Reis (from Brazil), Kyong Burke (from South Korea), Lorena Morales (from Venezuela) and Ana Archer (from Brazil). We learned about each artists work and got to see what their current work is.
