I joined VAA in 2000 when I entered one of its juried exhibitions.    I kept my membership current but did not attend any meetings. One day, out of the blue, former VAA President, MaryAnn Lucas, whom I had never met, called and asked if I would become the Publicity Chairperson. I agreed even though I had no computer. I bought a computer and taught myself how to use it.   Eventually, I was elected President and held the position for 6 years. I have sold numerous paintings as a result of VAA’s exhibitions, made many friends and met hundreds of talented artists.
