On January 11, 2017, members and guests of VAA were treated to a tour of the Lester Marks Collection. Lester Marks, President of LCM Partners, Ltd., and a represented artist himself, has been collecting contemporary art for 25 years. He has collected over 700 pieces of artwork and believes it is his duty to share the art with others. Over 40,000 people have viewed his collection. He considers himself a curator rather than a collector.
According to Lester, a collection is about looking hard. Art has the power to transform and take you on a journey. It is a catalyst to perceive beauty around us. It has to be thoughtful. The works he selects can turn the simple into sublime, make the weird wonderful and the ordinary extraordinary.
