Egusquiza, Rei

Beginning my artistic endeavours with writing, the subjects in my short stories eventually prompted an interest in illustrating them – this lead to a broader focus on art.  Drawing inspiration from heraldry, myth and geography, I uses pen, pencil and collage to depict notable people and themes.   The near-symmetric figures suggest a striving for perfection though each is built over a series of errors. The same figures are ghosts against the backdrop of an old building, a field, a face.  In collage, they fade into their environment in deference to it.
